Meditation and lithotherapy: what are the benefits?

You are new or used to meditation and you wonder if semi-precious stones could not help you in your practice. You are right ! A lithotherapy gem could help you meditate faster, more intuitively or more deeply. We talk about it together to see more clearly.

Meditate yes, but how?

Meditation has undeniable benefits. It helps us to go through our senses and have greater attention to our organism as well as our thoughts and our soul. Before choosing your meditation stone, you should first define certain points.

What objective?

First of all, the most important thing is to decide on the objective you want to achieve during this meditation session. Indeed, each session is not alike and you can adapt it according to your needs: why do you want to refocus?

Here are some examples of meditation topics:

  • Achieving mindfulness

  • Feel the feeling of fullness

  • Clear the mind of thoughts

  • Don't lose focus

  • Preparing for sleep...

So, depending on your goal, you can position yourself in a seated position on a chair, in the lotus position with your legs crossed, or even lying on a bed. Your meditation stone could also be different.

In short, it all depends on your goal!

Which mudra to use?

We are tackling a slightly deeper subject: mudras! This is the position of the hands during a meditation session.

First of all, the most important thing is comfort! The position of your hands should be comfortable and should in no way distract you from your session. Experiment with the different postures that appeal to you and see which one appeals to you the most. Our favorites are the position of the corpse (simply lying down, with the hands directed towards the sky) and the position of the hands in Zazen (forming a sun at the level of your lower abdomen).

You will also notice that many positions allow you to hold or position stones without it bothering you.

Meditate and do lithotherapy: is it compatible?

When you meditate, you can use certain processes taken from Ayurvedic Indian medicine, in particular the circulation of energy through your chakras. This is where lithotherapy can act!

Are chakras important for meditation?

The chakras are naturally expected to be at the center of a meditation session. They represent balance and inner strength, and that is exactly what one is looking for when meditating.

Each chakra has a specific meaning and location:

Le chakra racine (Muladhara): Located at the base of the spine, you have an imbalance of this red chakra if you feel tired, frustrated, emotionally unstable, low self-esteem, or even depressed... The stones associated with it are Garnet, Obsidian and Pyrite.

Le chakra sacré (Svadisthana) : Located below the navel, you have an imbalance of this orange chakra if you feel chronic fatigue, anxiety, fear, jealousy, distrust and worry. The stones associated with it are Mokaite Jasper, Carnelian and Tiger's Eye.

The solar chakra (Manipura): Located in the pit of the stomach, you have an imbalance of this yellow chakra if you feel stress, anger, frustration, guilt and many doubts that lead you to a constant need for approval. The stones associated with it are Calcite, Pyrite and Citrine.

The heart chakra (Anahata): Located in the hollow of the chest, you have an imbalance of this green chakra if you feel passivity in your emotions and in your actions, chronic depression, numbness and physical or moral suffering. The stones associated with it are Pink Quartz, Aventurine and Jade.

Le chakra gorge (Vishuda): Located at the base of the throat, you have an imbalance of this light blue chakra if you experience regular fears and phobias and indecisiveness that often lead to periods of depression where you are obsessed or blocked by your emotions. The stones associated with it are Amazonite, Aquamarine and Chalcedony.

The frontal chakra (Ajna): Located between the two eyebrows, you have an imbalance of this dark blue chakra if you often experience significant panics and phobias, leading to nightmares and recurring confusion. The stones associated with it are Labradorite, Lapis Lazuli and Sodalite.

Le chakra coronal (Sahasrara): Located above the skull, you have an imbalance of this purple chakra if you feel apathy, worries and a closed mind on what surrounds me or on the divine, which leads you to permanent dissatisfaction.  The stones associated with it are Amethyst, Rock Crystal and Moonstone.

How do I align my chakras?

You will therefore understand that each stone can have a positive impact if it is placed on the area concerned. This mediation technique works very well if you lie down and place a rough, polished or bracelet-shaped stone on the affected area. You can stimulate several chakra areas at the same time, but we suggest that you take it little by little to unblock the chakras that give you the most problems. Place the stone on the area(s) concerned and relax for your meditation session: the stones will help you unlock all your energy!

You can also wear a 7 chakra bracelet on your wrist before starting your meditation so that its stones act on your whole body, although we have a preference for targeted treatment. Consult our jewelry specific to each chakra prepared to help you calm down: all the stones are genuine and responsible!

Which stones to meditate?

As we have seen, you can use the stones you need to meditate while taking care of your chakras. But when it comes to pure meditation, other stones are more precise and can help you enter a deeper meditative state.

Citrine

Citrine is an excellent sunstone for reducing stress accumulated over time. It contributes to general well-being and helps to gain calm. During a meditation session, it will precisely help to calm the emotions and the overflow of energy to more quickly bring to a state of well-being.

In order for it to be more effective, you can place the stone on your solar chakra located towards the stomach. This area, more commonly known as the "solar plexus", is the center of the body and also where the emotions are. It is an important area in the balance of the body.

By placing your citrine on this area, it will balance all these energies to bring you confidence and self-esteem. In meditative practice, it also helps to make the mind clearer and to make you more lucid in your personal reflections.

Amethyst

Amethyst is a particularly versatile stone. It naturally helps to cleanse and purify other stones so it is very often used as a reloading druse. This quality can work perfectly during a meditation session, because it can help you purify your body and your mind of the negative intentions that inhabit them.

When we talk about negative intentions, it can represent several kinds of energies. It can be your doing, like an addiction, a specific disorder, or negative thoughts. It can also represent negative energy coming from your close surroundings or at your place of work.

During your meditation, amethyst will allow you to accelerate your meditative state and dismiss all surrounding negativity.  This protective stone will give you strength and protection to help you achieve your meditation goals. You can place it on top of your head in a seated position if it fits easily (or placed under a headband to keep it in place) or while lying on your pillow. If that sounds complicated, you can also hold it in your left hand or on your solar plexus.

Pink Quartz

The Pink Quartz is one of the most effective stones in the world of lithotherapy with amethyst. It is a stone that can accompany its owner in any kind of situation. It softens hard hearts and leads to an opening of the world.

The Pink Quartz offers greater clairvoyance and a return to calm and a peaceful mind. During your meditation, this crystal helps to enter a deep meditative state thanks to its virtues bringing serenity and inner peace. You can even take the opportunity to implant an intention in your stone so that it brings you even more after your session.

Place it on your heart chakra so that this soft pink gem brings you all its soothing virtues. You will notice that it will have a strong impact on your meditation, as it clarifies your ideas and even provides answers to some of your questions.

Lapis Lazuli

Lapis lazuli is a dark blue stone with inclusions of pyrite, which gives it small golden hues from time to time. This stone has always been associated with deep awareness of being and can therefore work throughout your meditation to deepen your meditative state.

During your session, this stone makes a connection between your spirit and your deep consciousness. It can be considered that lapis lazuli could help you connect to your deep "self". It brings out the qualities that have been buried over time or locked up by events not necessarily of your making.

Moreover, if you wish to carry out meditation sessions to connect with your spirituality, use lapis lazuli and you will communicate more easily with the divine who animates you. For it to help you develop your spiritual side, we advise you to place it at the level of the third eye chakra during your meditation sessions. This will make it easier for you to meditate while lying down.

Labradorite

Labradorite is a beautiful gray stone with reflections that can be blue, green or even orange. It is mainly used to protect against negative external energies, but also to stay in a positive state of mind. In a meditative practice, it will mainly serve to open the third eye chakra to accompany its owner in a spiritual awakening.

A bit like lapis lazuli, placing a labradorite on your forehead to open your frontal chakra helps develop intuition and help open up to your deep self. Thanks to the stimulation of this introspective aspect, you will be able to know yourself better and better understand your goals.

This stone is perfect for beginners who struggle to find the stillness to achieve a deep meditative state. It is therefore particularly recommended for letting go and meditative calm.

Azurite

Azurite is a multicolored stone that can be dark blue, green, and brown. It is often used in lithotherapy, but rather unknown to the general public. And yet, it allows a lot of things!

First of all, azurite is a stone that helps to clarify ideas to gain maturity and wisdom. It stimulates concentration and allows its owner to focus on the things that matter most, the essentials.

It is particularly recommended for people who cannot concentrate during meditation sessions, because it allows them to refocus on the present moment by dismissing everyday problems. No more worries, azurite to release these blocking thoughts to allow you to concentrate better.

This is why we advise you to place it on the crown chakra or the third eye to offer you unparalleled clarity of mind.

What is a meditation session like?

Now let's get to practice! Get ready to experience your first meditation session with the stone you have chosen.

Step 1

First, make yourself comfortable in the position you have chosen beforehand. You must ensure that you are in a quiet place and that you will not be disturbed.

For a beginner, we advise you to sit on a sofa or a bed, in a lying position with the palms of your hands facing the sky. Disconnecting with your body will be easier, because you won't use as many muscles as when sitting.

2nd step

Once you have found your ideal position, you can start the serious things. Take the stone you have chosen to accompany you during your session. Put it on the chakra you want to help, on your solar plexus or in your left hand.

Inhale through your nose then exhale through your mouth, taking time to connect with your surroundings. Once you feel more present in your space, close your eyes and regulate your breathing until it feels more natural, calmer.

Little by little, concentrate on the stone you have chosen. Imagine its shape, its color, its energy. Feel all the positive energy it transmits to you. Imagine this energy as a light that penetrates you and passes through every member of your body.

Step 3

This light sweeps away all negative energy in every limb of your body. Then feel this powerful energy flowing through you, sweeping away all the negative energies in its path, the fears and emotional blockages present in you. Many people imagine this light permeating every part of their body, a bit like the water you drink and feel it travel through your body.

Savor this connection with your gem and your body for as long as you need. You can do this kind of exercise for a few minutes or several hours, but the main thing is that you have to develop this inner connection without it disturbing you. Speaking of disturbances, if you feel like you're thinking about anything other than your feelings, write that thought down and watch it go away with ease. This will allow you to resume the session without judgement.
